What is Gabbitas Guardianship?
What is Gabbitas Guardianship? If your children are at a boarding school, knowing that they can be cared for during weekends and between school term times by a responsible host family is of imperative importance for all parents. Educational establishments are also keen to know that student accommodation with an attentive guardian can enhance their experience of learning in the UK.

The Guardianship team provides a 24 hours a day, seven days a week service that offers a high level of support to parents, students and schools.  We source the highest quality families for our students to stay with over exeat weekends and half terms and can help with carrying out a variety of ‘tasks’, from the buying of school uniforms and arrangement of visa appointments, to buying a birthday cake to be delivered to a boarding house and accompanying students on visits to potential universities.

Gabbitas is a founder member of AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students), an organisation recommended to parents who are looking for quality guardianship services. Gabbitas also has accreditation from the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

Packwood Haugh Building strong relationships with the schools that our students are attending is particularly important, and Gabbitas has long-standing relationships with boarding schools across the United Kingdom. As soon as our Guardianship services have been confirmed by parents we send full details of the co-ordinator attached to the student across to the school together with our comprehensive School Handbook outlining how we will be working together.

Guardianship Frequently Asked Questions.

Choosing the right family We understand the enormous level of responsibility that is attached to looking after vulnerable International students and our guardian families are chosen using a rigorous selection programme.  In putting this programme together we have worked closely with the NSPCC and Child Safe, both respected and nationally recognised Child Protection Organisations based in the UK.  We are thrilled to have received endorsement from the NSPCC for the policies and procedures that form part of this programme as follows:

Child Protection Policy and Procedure materials were drawn up specifically for Gabbitas Educational Consultants in March 2012 with the assistance and advice of the NSPCC and conform to current child protection legislation and guidance.  The NSPCC cannot accept responsibility for the implementation and application of the procedures.

Great care is taken to match the right family to the right student, ensuring that for each exeat weekend and half term break as required they stay in the same home. We consider this part of our service to be one of the most important as it enables close relationships to be built quickly between family and student and is a key factor in helping students to settle fully into UK life, both inside and out of school.

Tailored services

With its long established history in independent education, the Gabbitas name is synonymous with the very highest of standards and the Guardianship department is extremely proud of its highly-personalised service. We offer four different levels of service, Diamond, Gold, Sapphire and Standby, so that parents can choose which one is the most suited to their requirements. Under each of these levels, parents can also choose to add the ‘Elite Start’ service for the first term that the student is in the UK.
