Sofie is the Director of Gabbitas China Offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Born in China, she moved to Sweden when she was 10, where she was educated at an international school. On completion of her studies in Sweden, she worked as an assistant teacher before moving on to study at the Royal Holloway University of London, where she gained a degree in Business Management.

Sofie worked in the Gabbitas London head office for over three years before being relocated to Shanghai to set up our original representative office before expansion to Guangzhou. She has an excellent knowledge of boarding schools, gained from friends and relatives, and understands the needs and concerns of students from overseas. Sofie is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Swedish and is therefore particularly well placed to be able to help parents from China who need support for their children, providing a vital link for parents who prefer to communicate with Gabbitas in these languages rather than in English.

Jennifer started with Gabbitas in September 2009 as Client Co-ordinator for our busy Japan office. She has recently become involved in the new business development of our China offices and is now running our China operations from our London HQ. Besides supporting the Chinese students in the UK under our Guardianship services, her role is to ensure all aspects of new business potential in China are explored with companies both here in the UK and in partnership with our General Manager in China with Chinese companies. Jennifer is always keen to speak with people who are looking to expand their business in China who may wish to work in partnership with Gabbitas.

Marcus joined Gabbitas in June 2012, and worked with Lions Education, our Chinese partner, to set up the second China office in the prestigious IFC building in Guangzhou. He is responsible for Guangzhou office’s operation and Gabbitas’ business development in Southern China. Prior to his career at Gabbitas, Marcus worked for UK Trade & Investment in British Consulate General Guangzhou as an Investment Officer for near eight years, where he helped Chinese companies to invest in the UK.

He has a Merit Master Degree in Finance from Glasgow University and speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Carrie graduated from Shanghai Normal University and gained a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She worked as a teacher before deciding to start her career in overseas education.

She joined Gabbitas in August 2011, as the Client Relationship Co-ordinator for school placement. Carrie knows boarding schools extremely well and has sound experience of UK independent schools’ registration and acceptance process. Her role involves communicating directly with Chinese parents and schools.

Vera gained a Bachelor's degree from Jiangsu Science & Technology University and also has a major in Trade English.

She formally worked as a study-abroad consultant since graduating in 2007, before joining Gabbitas in July 2010, as the Client Relationship Co-coordinator for Guardianship. Vera knows the international education market extremely well and has vast experience of the visa application process. Her role involves communicating with parents, students and agencies all over China.
