Serab has international experience in the project management field as well as in education. Before joining Gabbitas, she worked for the Walt Disney Company in Paris and later for Siemens in Dubai, moving on to teach German at the French Galatasaray University in Istanbul. Having built relationships with various different cultures and having experienced numerous cross-cultural encounters, Serab is now fronting international and national consultancy projects for Gabbitas. She is also leading the Schools Recruitment Department.
In addition to her business skills and her teaching expertise, Serab is fluent in English, French, German and Turkish and is learning Arabic and Spanish. Serab has an MSc in politics and government of the European Union from the London School of Economics.
Maureen has extensive experience of the education sector. Initially, she spent some years as a teacher, both for adults, teaching cookery, and for children, assisting in a London prep school. In 2001 Maureen joined the Independent Schools Council International as a consultant to advise UK and overseas parents on the placement of their children in affiliated schools in the UK.
Following four successful years with the ISCI, she moved to Brighton College in East Sussex to assist in the admissions department. Maureen joined Gabbitas in 2006, organising the administration for the Recruitment Department and assisting schools and clients with their recruitment needs. She now places teachers and senior managers in international schools and places private tutors all over the world.
Louise joined Gabbitas in August 2012. Previously, she worked at Millfield School in Somerset in the Development and Alumni Offices, and also as the school’s external event co-ordinator. These varied roles meant that she worked with a broad cross-section of the school community including Governors, the Headmaster and Senior Management Team, foundation board, staff, parents and alumni. As an Old Millfieldian herself, she is a voluntary board member of the Old Millfiedian Society.
Louise also has extensive experience in the hotel, leisure and restaurant industry, successfully running and managing her family’s hotel in Somerset for over eight years; and spent three years running her own image consultancy and personal branding business. Louise now heads up the Tutoring department.
Penny has held senior leadership positions in prestigious London day schools for many years and has been a Deputy Head and Headteacher. Her subject speciality is English and she has tutored extensively.
Believing in an holistic approach to tutoring, she likes to evaluate the personal and individual needs of pupils and their families. As an experienced and passionate teacher herself she is well placed to recruit, support and monitor the team of tutors at Gabbitas.
Paul Jackson has been committed to the independent sector since leaving Loughborough University in 1978. Initially, he taught geography to A-level and PE at Worksop College and Millfield before entering prep schools via Northbourne Park, where he was the Girls’ Boarding Housemaster. He also took up a similar job at Bilton Grange. Paul recently retired from Grosvenor School, Nottingham but still teaches in a new prep school, Brooke House, in Leicestershire.
He is the National Director of Education for SATIPS and was formerly PE and sport advisor to HMC, GSA and IAPS. Paul was also awarded Fellowship of the Physical Education Association for services to school sport. As an Executive Consultant, Paul has specific responsibility at Gabbitas for recruitment within preparatory schools.
Kirsty recently graduated with a management degree from Anglia Ruskin University before joining Gabbitas.
She is an integral part of the recruitment team, and provides essential administrative support to the department. She also works closely with families to match private tutors to suit students’ individual needs.
Kirsty manages the Gabbitas database of educational candidates and is the first port of call for the busy department.
