Aysgarth's rugby team are having a fine season.Aysgarth Preparatory School’s 1st  XV rugby team are creating history as they are the third team in the last five years to go unbeaten. The North Yorkshire school introduced rugby 102 years ago and the class of 2011/12 are excelling: taking on the best in the north of England and in Edinburgh, the 1st XV have won more matches than ever before in a season – and even into January, are yet to taste defeat. Aysgarth's impressive record so far includes 13 wins and one draw.

Key victories were both 19-12 scorelines against St Mary’s Hall (Stonyhurst) and Cargilfield in Edinburgh and 10-5 against Witham Hall. 450 points were scored and only 105 conceded since the season opened in September. Captain Bevan Fawcett, Ethan Madronal and Oliver Rudd have also been selected for the North of England Prep School Barbarians side for their outstanding performances.

Gordon MacLelland, Director of Sport at the School says: “This so far has been a magnificent achievement by a group of players who through sheer hard work and courage are able to achieve excellence in a rugby season that will be remembered for a long time in the future.”
