Year 6 children from Dragon School took part in a survey in January to help create a 'scale for happiness' for young people. The event, hosted by Ofsted was held at Oxford's Vue Cinema and involved children from schools all over the city. The research will contribute to the Prime Minister's initiative to try and assess the nation's wellbeing.
Children at the Oxford prep were given electronic voting pads with which to record their views on a range of questions and scenarios. Participants were asked about what usually makes them happy or unhappy. The results will be reviewed at Government level later in the year and will form direct input to policy surrounding child welfare.
Tom Aubrey-Fletcher, teacher at Dragon School, said: "This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to play a part in the welfare of future generations. The findings from this study will be used to inform legislation and debate around issues hugely relevant to the children at the Dragon, so it was great that we could contribute. The event itself was informative and fun and was enjoyed by both the staff and the children. We look forward to seeing the results.”
