Joe Parker from New Hall School with the newly decorated BMWAn arty sixth form student from New Hall School has been amazing shoppers after being given the keys to a £30,000 car – and duly decorating it with markers!

Joe Parker, a budding artist in year 13 at the Chelmsford school, has created a piece of amazing artwork on a brand-new BMW with marker pens. Themed around the 2012 Olympic Games, he spent seven hours one weekend painstakingly decorating the car live in front of amazed shoppers with just a pack of dry wipe pens.

Gareth Hughes, Head of Art at New Hall School who helped Joe create the art car says; “At New Hall, we pride ourselves on giving our students artistic freedom and opportunities for creativity, Joe did an amazing job – look out for his work in the future.”

New Hall School have always encouraged me to be expressive and original in my art. This has given me an opportunity to have a piece of my own work on public display. I would like to study illustration at university; this has been a great opportunity.”

We’re sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from Joe in the future.”

This is definitely the most unique piece of art Joe has created to date.  Sadly for Joe, he wasn’t able to keep the car and as the pens do wipe off this is one piece of art that won’t be around forever.

The BMW is currently on display for a limited time at the BMW garage on Colchester Road in Springfield, Chelmsford.
