Gabbitas Consultant Review

An elegant 18th century mansion complete with extensive parkland is the setting for Beechwood Park School. Amidst beautiful English countryside, with uninterrupted views across rolling fields complete with cows; a child can really breathe and flourish here.

Beechwood Park is an inspiring co-ed prep school of 501 pupils aged from 2-13, with 55 weekly boarding places in bright dorms overlooking the grounds. Most pupils live within a fifteen mile radius of the school. The M1 exit is a short drive and the school has a network of buses from the surrounding towns and villages.

I was shown around by Liz Graham, the Registrar, whose own children had attended Beechwood Park. The facilities are impressive; tennis courts, outdoor pools, performance hall, extensive sports pitches and large multi-sports hall. The school even has its own cricket pavilion and two woods for exploring!

Beechwood Park offers lively and varied educational and extra-curricular experiences delivered by enthusiastic teachers. Music is a strength; over 300 individual music lessons are taken each week and there are several choirs. The school has superb facilities for Creative Arts, Science and DT and has won national awards. There are many exciting trips and excursions throughout the school term, all included in the fees.

The school currently supports children with dyslexia and other learning difficulties, and would consider new pupils with SEN if the child’s needs could be met. No EFL support, but children with EAL welcomed if they met the entry requirements.

Beechwood Park pupils successfully win places at a range of outstanding senior schools such as Haileybury, St Alban’s High, Merchant Taylor’s, Berkhamsted and Oundle, well as selective grammar schools.

The children are happy, focused and confident and a genuine attitude of mutual respect underpins the relationship between staff and pupils. Beechwood Park offers a vibrant education, inspiring atmosphere and idyllic setting – lucky children!
