Gabbitas Consultant Review

Set in 40 acres, Box Hill School is situated in the heart of Mickleham Village, surrounded by the Surrey countryside, but close to major road, rail and air links and only 40 minutes from central London.

Box Hill is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged from 11 to 18 years. The school’s ethos is based on that successfully promulgated by Kurt Hahn at Gordonstoun. There is a strong pastoral support system based on the House system, which is particularly pertinent to the large overseas contingent. Academically Box Hill is one of the growing number of schools offering IB and this has become well established in recent years. Sports teams are engaged in inter school contests in a wide range of disciplines and Music and Drama are both strong features of the life of the community. This was reflected in the Inaugural Arts festival which was held early in 2010.

The very wide range of extra curricular activities further enhances the chances of every pupil to realise his or her potential. A great choice of some challenging expeditions encourages this ambition. There is also a particular emphasis on exchange programmes for younger year groups with opportunities to spend up to eight weeks in countries such as Canada, USA, Australia and South Africa.

The staff is committed and the pupils are encouraged, nurtured and challenged in all they do. The schools aim is to produce well adjusted young people, ready to greet the world with energy and enthusiasm.
