Gabbitas Consultant Review
Claremont Fan Court School is a co-educational school, for 620 pupils aged 3-18 years old. Situated just outside Esher, in Surrey, only sixteen miles from London, the school is set in one hundred acres of historic landscaped grounds known as the Claremont Estate.
Over recent years, the academic standard for entry to the Senior School has increased and every child is expected to achieve their personal best in their exams, which in many cases are all A grades. However, the school combines progressive and effective teaching within an ethos of excellent pastoral care and strong Christian values. Claremont Fan Court provides a safe and happy campus, which: “encourages an awareness of our world and our responsibility for it.”
Maths, English, languages, humanities and arts are taught within the main mansion. Further specialist buildings house science labs, music and drama facilities, technology and IT rooms, the sports hall and gym. There are facilities on site for lacrosse, netball, football, rugby and tennis. The buildings, setting, and ethos all contribute to a purposeful peacefulness that visitors frequently remark upon.
The following is a quote from Jonathan Insall-Reid, Head of the Senior School:
“… an education system only based on passing exams fails our children. Being an all-round school means truly educating a child for life, and developing their 'intelligence' in the broadest way.”
