Gabbitas Consultant Review
The school is situated in an old country house, set in acres of parkland and mature gardens, which belonged to the family of Lord Darnley until the 1950s when it was sold and converted into a school.
There is an excellent art department offering all aspects of the subject including fine art, textiles, pottery and painting. Many students go on to study art at college after leaving school.
The sports facilities are functional with a sports hall, tennis courts, grass hockey pitch and indoor 25m pool. The music school has a large number of practice rooms for individual instrument lessons and there is a large classroom for subject teaching. The drama studio seats a small informal number for productions. Larger school productions take place in the school assembly hall.
Cobham Hall has 3 computer suites, which are all networked to the main school system. There are also PCs and interactive whiteboards in computer suites and teaching rooms for all subject areas. There are networked computers and internet access for the students’ personal email accounts in all the boarding accommodation areas.
There is a large EFL department giving individual and group support to all students from overseas. There are a variety of teaching rooms offering abundant resources for EFL support.
The school is very busy at the weekends with lots of activities for boarders. Overall I felt that Cobham Hall offers a small, caring, friendly environment for learning with an international, multi-cultural feel.
