Academic Studies
Pupils study the full range of subjects in their first year which includes the opportunity to study both Latin and Classical Greek along with a second modern language. For GCSE, pupils study biology, chemistry, English, French, mathematics and physics, as well as four other subjects from a choice of 14. At AS level, most pupils select four subjects from a choice of 23. Critical Thinking and Life and Learning skills are available in addition. At A2 level most pupils study three subjects and all follow an extensive General Studies programme. ICT is central to the teaching and learning experience and the College is networked with its own Intranet.
Academic Success
GCSE: 120+ pupils in Year 11: all gain at least grade C in 8+ subjects. in 2009, 67% of GCSE grades have been A* or A. A-levels: 140+ in upper sixth, In 2009, 78% achieved A or B grades.
Destinations
University destinations: 98% of sixth-form leavers go on to a degree course (30% after a gap year), 10% to Oxbridge. 10% take courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, 35% in science and engineering, 40% in humanities, business and social sciences, 5% in art and design, 10% in other subjects e.g. drama, music. A few typically go on to art or music colleges or straight into careers
