Gabbitas Consultant Review
The College was founded by the Seventh Duke of Devonshire and other prominent Eastbourne citizens in 1867. In 1969 it was on of the first HMC schools to welcome girls into the Sixth Form, now girls of all ages make up over 40% of the school.
Eastbourne College is a fully co-educational seven day school which allows 300 boarders and 300 day pupils to enjoy a wide range of opportunities, academic, sport, drama, music and a wide range of extracurricular activities. Individuality is prized at Eastbourne and pupils develop into responsible, inquiring and considerate adults, confident but not arrogant. The teaching staff at Eastbourne are professional, approachable and enthusiastic.
At Eastbourne pupils are encouraged to develop an intellectual curiosity and academic achievement reflects this with excellent exam results. This year (2010) the Sixth Formers achieved the College’s highest ever A level results. 84% of all grades A* A or B and 59% A* or A.
