Pastoral Care

The College is a medium-sized boarding and day community where the ethos is of full boarding education. The College is co-educational with a ratio of girls to boys of 40:60. In 2009–2010 there were 620 pupils, of whom half were boarders. There are five boarding houses, three of which are for boys (Gonville, Pennell and Wargrave) and two are for girls (Nugent and School). There are five day houses, three of which are for boys (Craig, Powell and Reeves) and two are for girls (Blackwater and Watt). Day and boarding houses have similar facilities and are run on similar lines with resident house staff and full tutorial teams. All day pupils take supper at school and do prep in houses before returning home, some on school buses. There is great commitment from staff and pupils in all areas and there is strong system of pastoral care. In the recent ISI inspection, the inspectors recognised ‘ The quality of pastoral care in particular is excellent’.
