Gabbitas Consultant Review

Leighton Park School is a successful and long established co-educational, independent school for 500 boarding and day pupils, aged 11 - 18. Founded in 1890, the school offers outstanding academic teaching and facilities, first class pastoral care, and a wealth of cultural, sporting and extra-curricular opportunities, all set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland, near Reading.

Leighton Park is a progressive school which gives pupils an exceptional and enriching preparation for life through a busy and active educational programme. Outstanding academic achievement and pastoral care are supported by the school's distinctive ethos, based upon Quaker values. Its outstanding teaching, facilities and excellent academic results give it the qualities that parents seek in a school but in addition, it provides a welcoming and open environment in which pupils can flourish.

Leighton Park is characterised by consistently high academic achievement. For the eighth successive year students achieved a pass rate of between 98 and 100% at A level with 39.5% of all passes at grade A*/A. Performance at GCSE level is equally impressive with 99% of pupils achieving 5 or more passes at grade A*-C with 53% at A*/A.

There are over 150 students in the Sixth Form with most progressing to university. It has been awarded the status of International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and offers the IB Diploma Programme alongside the extensive A-Level choices.
