Lochinver House was founded in 1947 and is a prep school for 342 boys aged 4 -13. A recent ISI inspection noted the school’s outstanding pastoral care and the pupils’ excellent social development; their behaviour is good and their attitudes are positive. Parents support the school strongly and appreciate many aspects of its work. Pupils are proud of their school and work hard.

Pupils perform well in Common Entrance examinations and gain entrance to senior schools of their parents’ choice. A steady number of scholarships have been gained in recent years.

Significant performances have taken place in badminton and chess at national and county championships. Results in music examinations are consistently good and there are plenty of opportunities for boys to take part in a host of challenging extra curricular activities. Recently a boy from Lochinver was a winner in the Haileybury Arts Festival and the school has sent teams to compete in the IAPS National Sailing Regatta as well as the English Schools Ski Association qualifier event.
