Academic Studies

GCSE. IGCSE in Maths and Science (some students also take IGCSE in other subjects) After GCSE we offer either AS/A2 Levels or the International Baccalaureate. See our prospectus for subjects available.

Academic Success

In 2011, a third of A level pupils achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades, whilst 82% of all grades were A*-B. 26 subjects on offer at AS/A2. Has offered the IB since 2000. All 51 IB candidates gained their Diploma. One student achieved the maximum 45 points and 47% scored 38 or more points (worldwide around 14% achieved this). At GCSE, nearly 72% of grades were A*/As, with 23 pupils achieving 8 or more A*s, while six scooped ten of more straight A*s. IGCSEs in maths and the three sciences, with IGCSE English being offered from 2012.

Destinations

University destinations: The most popular courses include, medicine, veterinary science and dentistry; science and engineering; humanities and social sciences; business and management related courses. Sports, art and land based courses are increasingly popular destinations. The most popular recent university destinations are Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham, Durham, Nottingham, Cambridge, Bristol, UCL, Exeter, Manchester, Sheffield, Imperial College and York
