Gabbitas Consultant Review
Oakham is set within a very pretty market town in the beautiful county of Rutland. It has been co-educational since 1971, with roughly 50:50 boys to girls, so has well and truly integrated a co-educational curriculum. The school has a holistic approach to education, offering a broad and stimulating curriculum where all can identify talents in which they can excel. Entry is selective and academic achievement is high with the promotion of excellence being key to all aspects of school life. Jerwoods offers an excellent foundation education at years 6, 7 and 8, meaning Oakham presents a first-rate option for children moving into the independent school sector from state primary schools, prep schools or who are from overseas. There is a very strong tradition in sport, with links to local clubs to nurture talent in for example cricket and rugby.
