Gabbitas Consultant Review
Plymouth College is a senior (day and boarding) school educating children from the ages of 11-18 in a mainly residential part of the city. The college was first started in 1877 and children are housed in a mixture of listed buildings and purpose built specialist accommodation. The sporting facilities are fantastic and allow any child to excel in a number of sports, more importantly the school is well known for producing excellent sports achievements with one ex pupil winning an Olympic medal in Beijing. Academically, the school provides a good range of educational opportunities, meaning there is something to suit the aptitude of each student. The school is particularly strong in scientific and technological subjects as well as linguistics. The main aim of the college is to continue to produce caring, happy and knowledgeable students who gain confidence over time. The curriculum prepares students well for adult life and their next steps in education. The college is very strong at helping students to prepare for examinations and applications to universities. With its location next to the coast, the college also provides excellent weekend activities for its boarders. Overall a pleasant and high achieving school with well rounded students.
