Gabbitas Consultant Review
Sibford is just to the west of Banbury and within a 15minute drive of the M40. Banbury is on the rail line to Marylebone/Birmingham/West Midlands.
In terms of special needs they are CreSTeD (DU category) for Dyslexia and can also support Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Speech and Language problems.
As far as the current curriculum is concerned, they offer the standard GCSE and A Level subjects with the following additions: GCSE – Business Studies, Dance, Drama, Food and Nutrition, Horticulture, Media, PE and Textiles. A Level (including Vocational) – Leisure & Recreation, Media, Music Technology, Performance Studies, Sociology, Textiles, Travel & Tourism. They offer a strong programme of creative and performing arts, which attracts a lot of children.
The Art school offers Ceramics and Sculpture as well as Textiles and the usual media. There is a resident potter and the building has an Art Gallery where the students’ work and that of staff and outside artists are displayed.
The Media Room has facilities for animation and video editing; the Music department has a recording studio too.
All the children up to Year 11 wear the traditional uniform, while the sixth from boys wear a suit and the girls wear a suit with trousers or skirt.
All children were very polite, classes were quiet and the general atmosphere was purposeful.
