Gabbitas Consultant Review
Slindon College is a day and boarding school that takes boys from 9-16 and mainly takes children who haven’t fitted in to mainstream schooling for a variety of reasons. It offers specialist help for children with ADHD, mild Asperger’s. literacy, numeracy and problems associated with the autistic spectrum. The school is based in a beautiful National Trust House in lovely grounds with excellent playing fields.
The small classes enable children to have a great deal of individual help and provides flexibility. The pastoral care is excellent with dedicated teachers. Teachers encourage the children to achieve as much as they can. There is a wide variety of sport and extra-curricular activities. Art, Photography and Music are important subjects in the curriculum. Boys are encouraged to believe in themselves and there is a focus on developing social skills so that when boys leave they are more confident and articulate. All children are offered vocational subjects which are mainly based on practical skills. These include food and design technology and the writing of CVs for example. Children can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award.
